Christmas Parties

Jayson did his first job this week. He shoveled our neighbor's sidewalk and driveway and they even paid him for it. He was very excited about it (even though it was only 2 dollars). He would not come inside until he had finished every last bit of the sidewalk and the driveway. He was very thorough. His dad was very proud of him. The kids had all of their holiday parties on Thursday so the younger two and I went to see the different parties. They all seemed to have a good time. We then had the really long drive back to Colorado. It sure seems like a long drive, of course it is much closer than some of the places we have lived. The kids are so excited about Christmas luckily for them (and me) there is only three more days. They are super wiggly. Well there really isn't too much to say this week.

Ginger Bread Display

This weekend we took the kids to see the gingerbread display that they had at the Mormon Trail Center. The kids had a pretty good time. The display was much larger than I had expected. They had a scavenger hunt for the kids, where they had to find different things in the displays. We also went over to see the Winter Quarters temple grounds. That was pretty much the only thing that we did this week. Glen switched to nights, so he and the kids have been trying to adjust to the new shift. They have to be quite for a few hours after they get home from school. They of course forget, but luckily Glen is a pretty sound sleeper and doesn't wake up too much (or else he just knows that we are trying, and doesn't want us to feel bad, who knows). The kids are super excited to go back to Colorado to see their cousins and grandparents. Well that's about the only exciting thing we did this week. Mostly we have just been busy getting ready for Christmas and our trip. So anyway I guess that is about it. It sure feels like I do a whole lot more during the week, but then when I go to write about it, I realize how not exciting it was. Kyler this last picture is for you. It's kind of hard to read, but it says Buffalo St.

Getting Ready for Christmas

We have spent most of this week getting ready for Christmas. The kids had all kinds of fun stuff to do this week. This picture is from the base tree lighting party. It isn't the best quality picture since it is a scanned Polaroid, but its cute and has all of the kids in it. The base always has lots of fun stuff to do with the kids. The tree lighting was cold, but afterwards they had snacks and hot cocoa, and of course Santa and Mrs. Clause, so the kids thought it was great. They had a game room with 3 different Wii's and games set up and a bunch of pool tables, so Glen and I had fun trying to teach the older 3 how to play pool (of course Glen had to resort to cheating to finish the game since neither of us are any good at pool anymore). We bought and decorated our tree this week also. The kids got milk and cookies after and I was going to take a picture of the kids with our tree, but of course I never got around to it. Glen's squadron has a Christmas party for the kids also. They have the kids sit on Santa's lap and they get a present (of course we provide the present) Santa had a hard time with Ellura's name and so when he got to Aaric he was afraid to even try to pronounce it. The kids thought it was kind of funny. Jeremiah cried when he sat on his lap. We even managed to finish all of our Christmas shopping, and got them all wrapped. Of course now that I think about it, I just remembered another present that is sitting in our shed, hopefully I will remember to wrap it before we leave. So anyway I have all kinds of cute new pictures of the kids from all of our holiday fun, maybe someday I will get around to updating my flickr account, then again maybe not. The kids are so excited to go to Colorado in a few weeks. Well that is about it. I never really have anything exciting to say, I guess it is a good thing I only update this once a week, or no one would ever read this ( I suppose I'm not really even sure anyone reads it as it is =)).

Thanksgiving!!

The kids are back at school after 5 days home for Thanksgiving break. They had fun, but were glad to go back today. Glen's mom and sister spent the week here, the kids were excited to take them to the zoo and the base gym. I made the kids go to the gym with me everyday, at least it has a playground. We were pretty busy getting everything ready for dinner on Thursday. Ashleigh was so happy to finally get a chance to help cook. She wants to help every day, but my kitchen is so small that we don't have enough room for anyone else in the kitchen while we are cooking. Thanksgiving turned out pretty well, even though nothing seemed to go as planned. Dinner was a few hours late, I went to go get butter and dishwasher soap and ended up donating blood. I got the butter but forgot the dishwasher soap, so we ended up washing all the dishes by hand. That was fun. The weather was really nice for our trip to the zoo on Friday. The zoo has the coolest shark tank that you walk through and can see the sharks and rays swimming around you. Its Elly's favorite part of the zoo. Jeremiah has learned to climb on everything. His favorite thing to climb is the table. With all the times that he has fallen you would think he would stop, but so far that has not even slowed him down. He is just into everything. This morning he filled the cat food dish with cat litter and carried it all over the house. I am going to pretend that he didn't eat any of it and he only had cat litter on his mouth because of some other reason. What is it with that kid, he won't eat chicken or pasta, but he'll eat cat litter. So after spending my whole morning scrubbing down him, my living room, laundry room and bath tub, I think I got the last of it. Hopefully. Baby's are just gross. I guess it is a good thing they are cute.

I Hate Titles

After looking back at my previous blogs, I realized that every single one starts with "So". I guess that about sums up my level of creativity. At least I used a new word this time. This week has been busy, but thinking about it now, I really can't think of anything that I actually did, but these pictures of Jeremiah show how the younger two felt about all of my errands that we ended up running. Hopefully we have every thing we need for Thanksgiving because if not, oh well. I guess Grandma's quote is appropriate here, "good enough for who its for". So sorry kids and Glen. I really don't have anything to write about this week, so obviously I am just rambling to take up space. I did think that the pictures of Jeremiah were awfully cute though, so hopefully anyone who actually has time to read this will enjoy them if nothing else. Well that about covers it. Oh and Happy Thanksgiving!! Maybe I will have something more interesting next week (assuming of course that between all of my cooking and cleaning this week I find time to take a picture or two).

Squadron Open House

So, Glen's squadron had an open house this weekend (since as you can tell it is a controlled area). It gave all the families a chances to see where their service member works. This is the first time the kids got to see Daddy's office and the jet that he works on. This was the closest we could take a picture (I had to be outside of the fence) and we could take pictures outside the jet, but we couldn't have cameras or cell phones on the jet which would mean that one of us couldn't tour the jet (which wouldn't have worked either because we had to be escorted by our service member), so this is the best that you get. The kids were very excited. The got to go through a mock briefing where Glen's commander spoke to them and showed them a power point presentation some of the things that their parents do at work. The also got to sit in the cockpit of the jet he works on and see some of the equipment he works on. They were pretty impressed. I can't believe how much room all of that stuff takes up. Doesn't leave too much room for people with it. But anyway, Glen had fun showing us around and explaining what little he was allowed (which was pretty much just this is the front of the jet and this is the back). It was really nice of the squadron to go through all of the work it took so that we were allowed in. Oh and here is a cute picture of Jeremiah. He liked to climb inside Glen's suitcase when he got back from his TDY and just sit in it. Its kind of blurry because my phone doesn't have a flash.

No Clever Title Today

So Mom here is a picture of my new haircut. Very exciting, I know. Anyway, Glen got back from his TDY to San Antonio this weekend, and I managed to survive. Of course he has a real deployment coming up in April. That one is for 60 days. I guess I will need to find a hobby for that one because there is only so much cleaning I can do. He ended up first in the Air Force for his career field earning a "gold" medal. He was pretty excited since he didn't even try. I guess some people are just lucky like that when it comes to test taking. The kids are glad he is back. Especially since he brought them all back plushes from the Disney store. I took a picture of them. It isn't the best picture, since Jayson wanted to pout about not getting to take the picture and Ashleigh looks like she might have had her milk spiked. Its a pretty funny picture though I thought. And as usual Jeremiah wouldn't be still long enough so he got to be held in my picture. Well I don't really have anything exciting to say and most of this has just been rambling as it is. So, I guess that ends another exciting week in our house.

Halloween

So Halloween was fun, and busy of course. There are always so many things for the kids to do on Military installations. They had a trick or treat the squadron, so the Jeremiah and Elly got to go see the main part of the building where Glen works, and there was of course the school parties. The BX had a costume contest and food and the kids did the bulk of their trick or treating at the different stores and kiosks there. They got so much candy that we didn't need to go any where else. They also had a haunted hospital, which the had tons of fun at. They had pinatas and bounce castles plus games and a kids haunted house. They had lots of fun carving pumpkins the night before. Well, that was about it. Glen leaves for his TDY to Lackland in the morning, so maybe I should help him pack.

A Date

So we actually got to go on a date, the first one since Jeremiah was born. My kids actually stayed in bed like they were supposed to (of course I did threaten them with trick or treating), we may actually get to do it again sometime. Anyway here is a picture, we went to a Halloween party which was pretty fun, or maybe it was just fun because we had no kids with us. Anyway, here is also a picture of the kids dressed up to trick or treat the zoo. Jeremiah of course didn't want to stand for the picture. We had some more pictures, but Glen dropped his phone in the back of the toilet and than cooked it trying to dry it out, so..... (he'll be so excited I told everyone)

Who likes titles anyway

Okay so due to my submission to peer pressure (well I'm not sure it really constitutes as peer since its my mom), I now have a blog. We'll see how well I keep it updated, hopefully better than my myspace (which I haven't updated since Halloween of last year). Any way we are all doing well here, I have had kids home from school every day so far this week. Ashleigh got pink eye and even though she wasn't contagious any more they wouldn't let her back to school until today. She of course was less than thrilled. I have Aaric home today, he isn't feeling well. He actually threw up at school yesterday, I asked him why he didn't tell his teacher and go see the nurse and his answer was well I didn't have to. So anyway he is home today. I guess with a million kids that's the way it goes. I suppose maybe I should add some pictures of my kids since that is why people really want me to have a blog. Oh and Kyler my blogspot name is all for you. This (not so terrific) picture is from the Airshow this summer, it is missing Jeremiah since I was wearing him that day. The kids are sitting in the cargo area of a C5.
